The Daddy Complex: Raising Arizona (reblog)
Just as I was sitting to write my own post about this topic, I saw this come up in my dashboard and thought it was best to share. The Daddy Complex raises some very valid points to which I feel very strongly towards.
The greatest source of prevention and protection is communication.
I hope to raise my daughter with a constant “open dialogue” policy. Yes, some heavy topics will arise, but I refuse to live in denial and refuse to bury my head in the sand and let embarrassment or fright shame me into avoiding difficult conversation with her (or any of our future children).
I’d rather suffer through a tough Q & A session and know that I have done everything in my power to help my child(ren) than deal with much more drastic consequences in the long run.
Open door policy gets my vote.
